It was a very nice, upscale restaurant on the water. It was pricey, but I felt I deserved it. Not so much the food, but the atmosphere. I ordered mushroom ravioli with fresh arugula, and mushrooms in a broth. And yes, I ordered dessert. creme brulee. <br /><br />When I was a cooked foodie, creme brulee, plus tirimisu was my favorite dessert. I know that these foods are full of bad things, but once in a while is not going to hurt, (cough) much. Yes I didn't feel great after, but lately I haven't been feeling great in general. <br /><br />The whole experience was wonderful. As a child I cherished the moments of our family dinning out. Even if we ordered pizza in, I loved it. Being raw I have really missed this. The feeling of togetherness, having someone wait on you, trying something new and tasty, and you don't have to do the cooking or clean up! I don't live by a raw restaurant by the way.<br /><br /> Tonight, my dinner consisted of a carrot, apple, spinach, collard green juice and a BAKED sweet potato. Its getting cold out and I was craving one. I repeat, this will not hurt me. Well, actually, if I think about it, some cooked foods, nuts and seeds not sprouted make your body acidic. I don't know about a sweet potato though. Does all this sudden cooked food mean my raw diet is over? No, absolutely not, infact, I am thinking about going on a juice fast, I just have to research that a little more. I haven't confessed this to anyone yet, but I consume popcorn once a week. I pop it my self and add olive oil to it. I KNOW it isn't good, but I'm having a hard time giving that super delicious treat, up. Boy, did I struggle when it was time to give up peanuts, this will be the same kind of battle. Confessions are over, thanks for reading. I appreciate all of you, reading my blog and all, leaving a comment once in a while. I have a lot of homework to do and I work tomorrow, my 8th day. I work in the morning and then go back for a 2 hour meeting in the late evening. <br /><br />When I got home from work today I started on the Milk Chocolate Cake from Sarma's book. I will give a post on that as soon as possible and the buckwheat treats I made. <br /><br />Talk to you laterValenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-40515230825415069562009-09-29T19:16:00.000-07:002009-09-29T19:56:19.148-07:00SickI think I might be coming down with something (could be detox, I haven't been sick in almost a year and that was the norovirus from work). I have had a sore throat for a few days (I often get a sore throat), but now I feel off, headache, stuffy. I work 7 days this week and tomorrow is the 7th day, I hope I make it. <br /><br />For a week now I've been taking a online English class, I'm having a hard time. Especially because I don't have my books yet! They were all out, so I had to wait. I have e-mailed the teacher twice with no response. They might come tomorrow, it they all my money ($700) goes down the drain.<br />I'm also taking a weight lifting class. The orientation was today, which I had to miss because of work. By the way, work has been nothing close to a pleasurable experience this week! <br /><br />My car broke down on the way to work this morning once again. It is like the engine quits and starts back up. The check engine light has not shut off yet either. <br /><br />I bought concord grapes this week. I have never bought whole concord grapes before, they are very tasty. The only problem is that they have seeds and I will not buy them again because of this. I juiced the majority of them.<br /><br />Food wise today I made more cranberry cookies and another batch of cranberry cookies without of the cranberry. Instead they have blueberry and blackberry. <br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span></span></span><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span><br /></span></span>Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-67521591296771740062009-09-24T10:54:00.001-07:002009-09-24T11:13:20.347-07:00Whole Food Snacks<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-Q8y_9EvfIHbHPUEmnHtCEw62fi-2p2RYR-9xTcYcjwilfsuva7mih8HFFa0J-G3DjqkAzRlv9l8lS-U05P70Il9k77cLD12mWbOrz9zw7oJofupLac6IDIJ8PNn-1Z0LwTz_fYwgRlT/s1600-h/food+059.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgp-Q8y_9EvfIHbHPUEmnHtCEw62fi-2p2RYR-9xTcYcjwilfsuva7mih8HFFa0J-G3DjqkAzRlv9l8lS-U05P70Il9k77cLD12mWbOrz9zw7oJofupLac6IDIJ8PNn-1Z0LwTz_fYwgRlT/s320/food+059.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5385094542211102610" border="0" /></a><br />The carrot cookies are on the left, candy in the middle, and the cranberry cookies on the right.<br />The cranberry cookies are very good! I need to really modify the carrot cookie recipe, adding bananas didn't really help anything. They aren't bad though. The candy tastes best when coated in coconut. Add nuts and pulse that until combined. Add the remaining ingredients except raisins. Pulse until completely combined. You can leave small chucks of cranberries. Mix in the raisins by hand. I then used a cookie scoop to put the mixture on the teflex sheets, it worked really well. Dehydrate for 12 hours, flip the scones over 3/4 way through the 12 hours. The end result with be moist in the center with a chewy/crunchy exterior.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-25804287030432840082009-09-23T20:22:00.000-07:002009-09-23T20:41:31.150-07:00Homemade CandyMy homemade candy consisted of almond butter, cocoa, salt, vanilla, and honey. Just mix everything to taste, I will give the measurements later with pictures. Roll the mixture into balls or press into a pan and freeze. Eat right out of the freezer, delicious. <br /><br />I also made cranberry scones, carrot cookies (I added 3 bananas to the mix for a different taste and texture), and a blackberry, cocoa butter, pudding. I was dipping the brownies from yesterday into the blackberry pudding sauce/pudding, oh my, that's good. Those brownies are addicting! <br /><br />I will be making that almond, chocolate, candy often. As soon as my tub of coconut oil comes in the mail I will add a little of that to add to the melt in your mouth deliciousness.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-78176460639484854382009-09-22T11:26:00.000-07:002009-09-22T12:32:30.784-07:00Brownies and Cheese Sauce<span style="font-weight: bold;">Cleaning</span><br />Whew! I just cleaned out my dehydrator. It took me an hour to scrub EVERYTHING. IT WAS BAD! I had been putting it off for a while.<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />College</span><br />I had an appointment to sign up for my college classes today. I will be slowly working toward my AA degree.<br /><br />This semester I will be taking an online English 101 and weightlifting class for a total of 6 credits. Wish me luck with the English.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Feeling Good<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></span></span></span></span> I think I have made a great discovery! I have been plagued with feeling sick since I was 10 with headaches, post nasal drip, gas, and bloating. These feelings took control of my life and prevented me from doing what I really wanted to do. I was constantly trying to find out what the culprit was. HELLO, that is the main reason I went on this diet! <span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"> <span style="font-weight: bold;"> </span></span></span></span></span><br /><br />I have been eating raw for 5 months now and I'm still not feeling 100%. I do think that stress has something to do with it.<br /><br /> Anyway, back to the discovery, I believe it is FRUIT. This week I didn't eat nearly as much fruit as I did during Summer<span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">, </span></span></span></span>and I felt GOOD. It has been a LONG time since I felt this good. For the past 2 months everyday when I would go to work I would experience cramps from the gas and bloating. Last night I had a small plum and my abdomen gurgled all night long and this morning.<br /><br />We have thought in the past that maybe it was Candida, I'm not so sure. (Let me get this out of the way. I have been through many, many, food sensitivity tests and diets over the years and last year I spent $1,000 trying to find a cure with a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">naturopath</span>). I LOVE fruit, I could live off it, so it will be difficult to limit it. I can eat some dried fruit and honey and feel fine though. What does everyone else think? <br /><br />I also have had <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">RSD</span>, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">RND</span> or nowadays it is called <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">CRPS</span> (Complex, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Regional</span>, Pain,<span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Syndrome</span>), since I was 12. To find out more go to http://www.rsds.org/2/what_is_rsd_crps/index.html<br />I believe that my gut issues, and headaches are similar to <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">RSD</span>. I don't know how to describe this condition for you to understand, but for example if I were to stub my toe I could experience pain that is stronger than when I actually stubbed it for weeks, even though there is no injury. The <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">communication</span> between the brain and nerves is mixed up.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Food</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Brownies and Cheese Sauce</span><br />This morning I threw together a cheese sauce. Here is the recipe.<br />1c cashews soaked<br />1/2 of a small red bell pepper<br />2T nutritional yeast<br />1T <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">tahini</span> (I didn't have any)<br />salt to taste<br />1/2t apple cider vinegar or 1-2T lemon juice<br />seasonings if you would like, I didn't add any<br />1/2t onion powder<br />1/4t garlic powder<br />1/4c water<br />Blend in Vita mix until smooth.<br /><br />This sauce is so good I could drink it. It tastes good on <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">zucchini</span> pasta, crackers, as a dip for veggies, or on dehydrated <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">broccoli</span>.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWlHMbpx-PG45TOrjHA25w3q9YlTEkubfwzlOIJDRJWBuHbiyyEDqZoEab3mQWeXgifHUJ4As4rNQxP82oByIrgQq8YGFdR2RJLyDE-Kw9rrRhZ4_c0D0hOMIQCGZZ4HvtS3KsZJmxpv4X/s1600-h/food+052.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWlHMbpx-PG45TOrjHA25w3q9YlTEkubfwzlOIJDRJWBuHbiyyEDqZoEab3mQWeXgifHUJ4As4rNQxP82oByIrgQq8YGFdR2RJLyDE-Kw9rrRhZ4_c0D0hOMIQCGZZ4HvtS3KsZJmxpv4X/s320/food+052.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384370444601672594" border="0" /></a><br />The brownie recipe I used came from this website http://www.goneraw.com/recipe/hemp-brownies <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiELi0X4BW6Ur9RB5QbedC5KzBQAIhljjpsNsT5t-NunEleG6su-kDWb9Wi9zZUsfBV2mfshEIs_TwJxmHJlAclnv8vlxDKOKKPVvQ0wrVXRD5XinD3Exo02iAgP74mvnHy4WholQj3arev/s1600-h/food+054.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiELi0X4BW6Ur9RB5QbedC5KzBQAIhljjpsNsT5t-NunEleG6su-kDWb9Wi9zZUsfBV2mfshEIs_TwJxmHJlAclnv8vlxDKOKKPVvQ0wrVXRD5XinD3Exo02iAgP74mvnHy4WholQj3arev/s320/food+054.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5384371369298299458" border="0" /></a><br />I followed the recipe exactly and I'm very pleased with it. <br /><br />Everytime I would see people saying about a raw brownie "they taste like real brownies!" I always think YEAH RIGHT! But I can honestly say that these really do. <br /><br />I don't know how that works, since they don't have anything close to white flour, butter and sugar, but they do taste really good. I tried putting them in the freezer (don't try that, it doesn't taste very good). I like them best when they are warmed in the dehydrator!<br /><br />So I have a question for all of you, How do you clean your dehydrator? How often? How do you clean the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">Teflex</span> sheets?<br />I look forward to your answers!<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span></span></span><br /></span>Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-20191205846940005872009-09-19T08:28:00.000-07:002009-09-19T09:30:40.381-07:00$20 RicherThis morning on the dog walk I found a soaking, wet, twenty dollar bill. My head was looking down and there it was. Whoopee! I'm not going to use it for anything special. I just put it in my purse and will use it for food or gas. Yes I know it is not very exciting, but I'm not a big spender.<br /><br />Here is the recipe for the Carrot Cookies, Autum Cookies, "Pumpkin Cookies", or Spice Cookies. I haven't picked a title just yet. I'm still crituquing this recipe, but they are still pretty good. If you decide to make the cookies thick they will be soft and moist. If you make them thin they will be hard and chewy; I like both.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFsNJy65OXMovSjObyDAPQo0Cep9gWa1aWqwqpLXKz92z-OpPxWEecrXphp22nelv8jhRNY6pOHN_mVFXAQjrhM-zzfBUumUrMpND43UWl5F6NmAuNyjXB9iLGLVy9DxpVdrBuc5jh-73v/s1600-h/food+051.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFsNJy65OXMovSjObyDAPQo0Cep9gWa1aWqwqpLXKz92z-OpPxWEecrXphp22nelv8jhRNY6pOHN_mVFXAQjrhM-zzfBUumUrMpND43UWl5F6NmAuNyjXB9iLGLVy9DxpVdrBuc5jh-73v/s320/food+051.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383216717523440818" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Cookies<br />4c carrot pulp<br />2/3c almonds<br />1/2c soaked buckwheat<br />1/4c honey<br />3/4t salt<br />1t cinnamon<br />1/4t nutmeg<br />1/8t cloves (optional)<br />1/4t ginger<br />Put all the ingredients into the food processor and blend until smooth (or chunky it you like that). So much for that pumpkin pie! I have been trying to chip this stuff off the sides of the dish for a while now. I will just eat it as cereal. At least it still tastes good. I don't know how I will prevent this in the future, maybe add flax to help it hold together. I have a lot to do today, I still need to study and do some paperwork. <br /><br />I love zucchini pasta, even before I was raw. It is great with just olive oil and salt, but with nutritional yeast and garlic is even better! Today I put it in the dehydrator before consuming so it would not be so crunchy. The spiralizer I have cuts it kind of thick so it is a must to put it in the dehydrator. <br /><br />The pie crust was a mix of almond pulp, walnuts, cinnamon and honey. I can see right now that it is cracking so next time I will add ground flax to see if that helps. The crust is for my "pumpkin pie". <br /><br />I have been eating the cinnamon crackers with almond butter and raisins, yum, it is good. <br />I will post the recipe for the carrot cookies sometime soon. It is a mix of carrot pulp, buckwheat, nuts and seeds, honey and cinnamon. I have also been eating the cookies all week as a snack and dessert. <br /><br />Ok, I got to get back to work and need to stop watching youtube videos! Try zucchini pasta! If you don't have a spiralizer check grauge sales, thrift stores (that is where my mom just got me one for like $6) or buy online. Later everyone.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-38331378259913775672009-09-13T07:24:00.000-07:002009-09-13T07:52:57.986-07:00Hard Week and "Pumpkin" PuddingWhew! Work is tough, stuff this week! Dog barked all night, didn't get much sleep. I worked 10 hours nonstop yesterday, I know that isn't much, but I'm tired.<br /><br />I have such good parents. Every weekend they go to garage sales while I'm at work and buy me things they think I would like! Very nice, this week they got me a turn table and a never been used ice cream maker for $15.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpJwC2yXVrrYadMUcFYLny5zMQup_zCe-2SiBzL_9NuzfON0TNeIjt7GEEYK0o2_EBndfRNgO3FDSZYuks4gaqaPDiENqnmbHvyfFgnWdJVOrk-BMPTUb7SHGRu2ltKNbrm0_f7qyOhy93/s1600-h/food+031.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpJwC2yXVrrYadMUcFYLny5zMQup_zCe-2SiBzL_9NuzfON0TNeIjt7GEEYK0o2_EBndfRNgO3FDSZYuks4gaqaPDiENqnmbHvyfFgnWdJVOrk-BMPTUb7SHGRu2ltKNbrm0_f7qyOhy93/s320/food+031.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380960329724919410" border="0" /></a><br />With the Pumpkin Pudding I made this week I didn't use a recipe, I just threw in cashews, carrot juice, honey, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, coconut oil and water. Pour into dish (bowl, ramikins, etc.). I find that all these puddings, cheesecakes are much firmer if you let them set in the freezer. I threw the pudding in the freezer until solid and let rest in the fridge overnight after that. I have had plenty of time to prepare foods because of my three day weekend. Not my choosing, I need money, ha, I was considering having no days off! Anyway, on to the food!<br /><br />I made the apple crisp from <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Sarma's</span> book Living Raw Food. Its delicious, I couldn't stop eating the crisp topping, it would make great cereal. It is amazing how it tastes baked.<br /><br /> I followed the recipe exactly, but used walnuts instead of pecans. The filling was chopped up apples mixed up with agave (I used honey and cinnamon) and dehydrated for 4 hours. After the apples are done you put them in the processor until the consistency of chunky applesauce. The topping is almond flour processed with pecans, salt, and maple syrup (again I used honey). Crumble the mixture onto <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Teflex</span> sheets and dehydrate until crispy. Yum, that stuff is SO good. I suggest that you keep the filling and the topping <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">sepparate</span> until the moment you are ready to take a bite or else the topping will not be very crunchy.<br />(This picture isn't very good because everything is brown, you can't tell where the crumble meets the filling)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3wkDBdn008KUSPjU6dyx91U_gIa9kYzsJvW5dXUZ7N7P6VvGh54sxPoQ9r2pjZwOkzaWhTRTk07DZdkNw0luDjyxqAyHo8Z4gLJWxIm0wcamq-Mc1xkH9BQW8hjhAXPPeShFujDgZ-p52/s1600-h/food+019.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3wkDBdn008KUSPjU6dyx91U_gIa9kYzsJvW5dXUZ7N7P6VvGh54sxPoQ9r2pjZwOkzaWhTRTk07DZdkNw0luDjyxqAyHo8Z4gLJWxIm0wcamq-Mc1xkH9BQW8hjhAXPPeShFujDgZ-p52/s320/food+019.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379197275051253154" border="0" /></a><br />The next thing I made was cashew cheese. I saw the newest post over at my favorite blog http://beautifullivingfood.blogspot.com/ and new I had to try making that cheese! I have always wanted to make cheese, but I was too lazy to mess around with the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">rejuvalac</span>, so I was excited to see that I could use <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">probiotics</span>.<br /><br />First I soaked 2c cashews overnight. Then I blended the cashews with 2 <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">probiotic</span> capsules with 1/3-1/2c water. I then left this mixture wrapped in my cheesecloth in a strainer on the counter for 24hrs. Now Joyce from beautiful living food said that her cheese smelled like sour cream and mine didn't have ANY smell. Its like I did something wrong, but I don't know what. <br /><br />Once the 24 hours were up I spread some on a cracker with a sprinkle of salt (cheese means salty in my opinion) and it was good. To me this cheese tastes like the soy cheese you can buy from the store if you have tried that. I will try making a savory and sweet spread with this.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPVxV8wsf_Iy5-IAUNOz5CGhWoUib9n4fm4bRUHO5fjOzrmkMCQ3wetdvEwX30XZ39T0t2YAGB8jGU1Lpg0th6qObFkfQgW-IX-FRqi6rVksVYYXoPhcraj1a76CHuc1u5dq7j6eE1TC8i/s1600-h/food+027.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPVxV8wsf_Iy5-IAUNOz5CGhWoUib9n4fm4bRUHO5fjOzrmkMCQ3wetdvEwX30XZ39T0t2YAGB8jGU1Lpg0th6qObFkfQgW-IX-FRqi6rVksVYYXoPhcraj1a76CHuc1u5dq7j6eE1TC8i/s320/food+027.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379210958710113522" border="0" /></a><br />Here are the savory crackers with a scoop of cheese. Its not good without that salt sprinkle in my opinion. I'm not going to tell you what I think it tastes like without the salt, I will leave that up to your imagination. I will <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">deffinately</span> make this cheese again though.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjEKF41oUFvfuujwlvc7qHYeKNi8nEeWrrpbnlVRLh9U_6rgykM6nHzpEuXpcH1xvJAUySJQxXFHaH6HTaK0IphWrWv54ywTdPXiulpMoblar8UTUoVjLbsZw-KRcqWLDkZ2rPFrNl2WUZ/s1600-h/food+025.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjEKF41oUFvfuujwlvc7qHYeKNi8nEeWrrpbnlVRLh9U_6rgykM6nHzpEuXpcH1xvJAUySJQxXFHaH6HTaK0IphWrWv54ywTdPXiulpMoblar8UTUoVjLbsZw-KRcqWLDkZ2rPFrNl2WUZ/s320/food+025.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379212194981632578" border="0" /></a><br />When I made the cheese I new I had to make crackers to put it on. I couldn't remember the recipe I used before so I just winged it. I threw in about a 1c soaked buckwheat, 1 1/4c gr flax, 3/4t salt, 1/2c sunflower seeds and enough water to be spreadable and pourable into the processor. I then <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_7">seppataed</span> the mix into two bowls . Then I mixed into one bowl savory seasonings like <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">oregono</span>, parsley, onion <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_9">pw</span>, garlic <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_10">pw</span>, and basil. In the other bowl I put honey, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_11">stevia</span>, cinnamon (a lot), and vanilla. Then dehydrated until crispy. The cinnamon crackers are SO good! I wasn't expecting that actually! I mean really, really good! To me that means no weird flax or buckwheat flavors. The savory crackers are good to, but not as good as the other.<br />Here is a picture of the cinnamon crackers.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDugvfYAW8Y4znycVvj15MvryBi98UiqKdN0WgYkDTUblqQcUhQxai3pOv3wYZFYzP7L4RAYROCMvqBEPRyocnDadzN8ZgmaUAsyFq6nZuk_Tu-dWkkzWfiYIo3sy8W0Bj4dCXJPVyavVU/s1600-h/food+024.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDugvfYAW8Y4znycVvj15MvryBi98UiqKdN0WgYkDTUblqQcUhQxai3pOv3wYZFYzP7L4RAYROCMvqBEPRyocnDadzN8ZgmaUAsyFq6nZuk_Tu-dWkkzWfiYIo3sy8W0Bj4dCXJPVyavVU/s320/food+024.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5379214678721835010" border="0" /></a><br />You can see I put a lot of water in the mixture because they are so thin and delicate. I didn't use shallots because raw onion doesn't sit well with me. The soup was refreshing, but it is missing something (probably those shallots). The salsa however was deliciously, addictive! It consisted of mango, red pepper, orange juice, salt and cilantro. I didn't have cilantro, so I skipped it. <br /><br />Its nice to take a bite of the sweet mango and crunchy pepper in the soup. I will probably make this again, but modify it slightly.<br /><br />The <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">photography</span> in the book is stunning and there is such a variety of recipes! The book also has a wealth of information on tools, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">techniques</span>, ingredients (very useful and helpful info), and her story. The recipe sections are divided by Quick and Easy, and Off the Menu. Within the Quick and Easy part is Milks, Shakes and Juices, Family Meals, and Simple Sweets. Off the Menu has First Course, Second Course, Desserts, Cookies and Bars, and Cocktails. <br /><br />I can't wait to dig in! The key lime pie shake, BBQ skewers, Thanksgiving dinner, apple crisp, milk-chocolate mousse layer cake, caramel bars are all calling my name!Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-26790640950810629642009-08-30T09:26:00.000-07:002009-08-30T09:39:07.451-07:00Hungry and Teeth HurtSince I stopped eating coconut oil I'm hungry a lot more. I also don't have the energy to lift weights. Its frustrating, and then my teeth started hurting the other day. I had lemon water (which I don't do because of the acid on my teeth, but I craved it) and now my teeth hurt if I eat, or touch them.<br /><br />This morning I made a chocolate pudding with a young coconut. I could have easily eaten all of the pudding, its so good! I soaked 5 dates for a few minutes, added a few tablespoons of the water, all the coconut meat, salt, vanilla, 2 T cocoa, its the best!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAIkFANoD40IUZGJcguXPgMSNDXtBN9X6mmkyGg-7dWU5xr8vye0ilTrqwwLvIDyINvHZOe_zUhq443eti26_3mabSu5g90q7UBsBPPck3fB5G7Nbv6oTPFUKoxDfpYBT7q6FFM0t2mVeu/s1600-h/food.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAIkFANoD40IUZGJcguXPgMSNDXtBN9X6mmkyGg-7dWU5xr8vye0ilTrqwwLvIDyINvHZOe_zUhq443eti26_3mabSu5g90q7UBsBPPck3fB5G7Nbv6oTPFUKoxDfpYBT7q6FFM0t2mVeu/s320/food.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375796522208916130" border="0" /></a>Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-61953431418383505752009-08-28T10:40:00.000-07:002009-08-28T10:59:32.836-07:00My Newest Creation<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFUU7OamD-7xs1PJntFSf78hqh71oxrOUH9zG5NnhQqjfwQYmi2NrO1iznS5prKa3oiiIQCWEzv_u19NElGLluYe_hjcIvOQ5UaKU1A227p6RGb2WREfFqAmyFs8b1_WrP0cPuEfbWRdWQ/s1600-h/food+009.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFUU7OamD-7xs1PJntFSf78hqh71oxrOUH9zG5NnhQqjfwQYmi2NrO1iznS5prKa3oiiIQCWEzv_u19NElGLluYe_hjcIvOQ5UaKU1A227p6RGb2WREfFqAmyFs8b1_WrP0cPuEfbWRdWQ/s320/food+009.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375073954595111106" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi8LunuHs4k3Gn0jZza2On8_kq081hrITxn2GrR1PUqHpiL4Nqye_WiAsc3KlCAkSnr9pHDvN30-qbRc8fOx22z2EZBfLOPHXchXb_TAB-UmSmrFwXOFSRRUYXIgFAZAjV9FIW68EQ0Usz/s1600-h/food+008.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi8LunuHs4k3Gn0jZza2On8_kq081hrITxn2GrR1PUqHpiL4Nqye_WiAsc3KlCAkSnr9pHDvN30-qbRc8fOx22z2EZBfLOPHXchXb_TAB-UmSmrFwXOFSRRUYXIgFAZAjV9FIW68EQ0Usz/s320/food+008.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5375071906661814370" border="0" /></a><br />I made a raw apple cake this morning.<br />I pulsed walnuts (soaked and dehydrated), dates, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and salt in the processor.<br />I then pressed this sticky mixture into a biscuit cutter.<br />For the filling I chopped up some apple with honey, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg and pressed it into the biscuit cutter.<br />I then pressed in the walnut mix once again.<br />The top frosting is made like a cheesecake with cashews, dates (soaked), salt, lemon juice and melted coconut oil. Check it out, I love it! Also you can find free music at myplay.com.<br /><br />On to the FOOD<br /><span style="color: rgb(51, 0, 153);"><span style="font-weight: bold;">First up is a Strawberry Crumble.<br />I took 2 pints of strawberries, sliced them and put them in the dehydrator with 1 T honey and lemon juice. Then I made a Cashew Creme with 1/2c soaked cashews, 2 dates and 1/4c water. The crumble on the strawberries consisted of 1/2c pumpkin seeds, 1/2c buckwheat (soaked and dried), 1/3c walnuts, 6-8 dates, salt and vanilla.<br /><br /><br /></span></span><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNszgzDlb_UiciaqYyoX7q39wD_joC5FjIj70mrMvLbwJlbPnFMjvfT87QpftK8doA5UoRB7upJS1V5bK8Up0Mj8-u9P6SeprunxkANf3jfCqpZfIoaErCcgkZYD8SngGlv3GllNZiSJKn/s1600-h/food+004.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNszgzDlb_UiciaqYyoX7q39wD_joC5FjIj70mrMvLbwJlbPnFMjvfT87QpftK8doA5UoRB7upJS1V5bK8Up0Mj8-u9P6SeprunxkANf3jfCqpZfIoaErCcgkZYD8SngGlv3GllNZiSJKn/s320/food+004.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373987138405781570" border="0" /></a>This was DELICIOUS, yummmmmmmmmm STRAWBERRIES.<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="color: rgb(51, 0, 153);"><br />Next was Buckwheat Balls<br />I took 1/2c buckwheat, 1/2c pumpkin seeds, </span></span><span style="color: rgb(51, 0, 153);"><span style="font-weight: bold;">6-8 dates, 1T water, cinnamon, salt and vanilla. I just recently made the apple crisp and can tell you right now that I will be making that again very soon. Perhaps with different kinds of fruit, blackberries, strawberries, peaches, <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">mmmm</span>. Everyday I use the buckwheat crackers for my sandwich and eat the avocado pudding as a snack or dessert. <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Ok</span> enough talking and on with the recipes.<br /><br />Avocado Pudding (if you have lemon, lime, and orange extracts then you can make this <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">pudding</span> 3 different flavors)<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJY3TATChk1b8NlOW4x075_8gxCoE2C2hyphenhyphenr_iHnSogc3kwnVJBI1e36zK4L6gYwQAKFOPCeVLAN1F5q0BrXczl3JgQZO8qjeQrmdO6cefRR6llT-4J7uvu118usBCks6_y54ldChCGM8v/s1600-h/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+006.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTJY3TATChk1b8NlOW4x075_8gxCoE2C2hyphenhyphenr_iHnSogc3kwnVJBI1e36zK4L6gYwQAKFOPCeVLAN1F5q0BrXczl3JgQZO8qjeQrmdO6cefRR6llT-4J7uvu118usBCks6_y54ldChCGM8v/s320/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+006.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372809980412176306" border="0" /></a>1 medium avocado<br />1/2-1c water<br />2t lemon or lime juice<br />1/2t extract (lemon or lime, orange, vanilla)<br />1/2t vanilla<br />3-4T honey (depending on how sweet you like it)<br />Blend in the blender or food processor till smooth.<br /><br />Buckwheat Crackers<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQVIoUa0obz8w4ddj9YwggYpEujbr0BD9JRet9PzVaRdi0KMozfin_6rnXS0AiziLJ85Yo4OA10MrCVFxxqybGG73bFXa1AZKcg5sgp6CCgyWaBGN5Ciuk4dUEnOmMyQLW2AT-MPsRmaD/s1600-h/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+004.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYQVIoUa0obz8w4ddj9YwggYpEujbr0BD9JRet9PzVaRdi0KMozfin_6rnXS0AiziLJ85Yo4OA10MrCVFxxqybGG73bFXa1AZKcg5sgp6CCgyWaBGN5Ciuk4dUEnOmMyQLW2AT-MPsRmaD/s320/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+004.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372811395307585650" border="0" /></a>1c buckwheat, soak for 20 minutes and rinse well<br />1c gr flax<br />1t salt<br />1/2c sunflower seeds<br />3/4c water<br />1c of veggies optional (either carrots, red pepper, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">zucchini</span>)<br />2t seasoning (anything you like, onion powder, <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">oregano</span>, garlic)<br />Blend in the food processor until desired texture (I like mine as smooth as it can possibly get).<br />Spread onto two of the non-stick sheets for the dehydrator, about an 1/8'' thick. Dehydrate for 12 hours until crispy. Make sure you score the sheets about half way through drying so you don't end up with the jagged broken shapes like in the picture above.<br /><br />Apple Crisp<br />(I couldn't find any recipes I liked so I came up with this)<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUVz0wPSNSxfCZjMu0pcdOguuzQL0rGhA7o3qVtFcIBv4wHeMHv_9LJ7lbJGcXav8vYr2e3OWKPaYGEK5Q_XZF9xdN_EEA_3NMTATr5nqAXEdYcGFnMLPtwwouBdFDu4lmWuNBTZ8kDUX5/s1600-h/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+001.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUVz0wPSNSxfCZjMu0pcdOguuzQL0rGhA7o3qVtFcIBv4wHeMHv_9LJ7lbJGcXav8vYr2e3OWKPaYGEK5Q_XZF9xdN_EEA_3NMTATr5nqAXEdYcGFnMLPtwwouBdFDu4lmWuNBTZ8kDUX5/s320/apple+crisp,+avo+pudding+001.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5372814589763724882" border="0" /></a><br />4 small apples thinly sliced<br />1/4c honey<br />1 1/2t cinnamon<br />2t lemon or lime juice<br />Put this mixture into a dish that can easily fit into dehydrator (I used a pie pan).<br />Let it dehydrate 6-8 hours. It should be half crispy, half soft in texture.<br />Next is the topping.<br />3/4c walnuts<br />5 dates<br />1/8t salt<br />Put the ingredients into the food processor and mix. It should look like the size of breadcrumbs.<br />Now add 3/4c of soaked dehydrated buckwheat for an added crunch. You can just stir it in or add it to the walnut mix in the processor and mix for a few pulses. Dump onto apples and store in the fridge. I also topped mine with leftover raw vanilla ice cream, yum.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-25767006187293274992009-08-20T20:03:00.000-07:002009-08-21T09:22:21.922-07:00Home From WorkGot home at 7:00 instead of the usual 6:30. The cook got hot grease in her eye 15 minutes into dinner service. I took over for a half hour until someone from the front desk could take over.<br /><br />My wonderful mom took Bella for an hour walk while I was at work, very nice. I'm going to bed soon after I get my stuff together for work. Talk to ya later.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-90171639722778033162009-08-20T09:18:00.000-07:002009-08-20T09:32:58.669-07:00Good MorningSo far my morning is going well. Today is a workday from 10:30-6:30 and I have to eat lunch before I go. It consisted of a raw sandwich on my buckwheat bread (which I will give the recipe for later) with pickle, lettuce, tomato, avocado and mustard. For dessert I had some of the raw apple crisp I made yesterday with raw ice cream, delicious!<br /><br />I took Bella for a walk earlier and she didn't pull too much, so that's nice. Right now though my <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">tolerance</span> is running low as she barks and growls at every little noise.<br /><br />Well I got to go and do some reading and practice piano before I have to leave for work. Have a good day.Valenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16303207547825242213noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2977671979215953764.post-3438589124864786522009-08-19T17:52:00.000-07:002009-08-19T19:44:05.750-07:00Chocolate Pudding!<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo0a3LucplplTTne0U7DNtaA3uZagqs09tzHtoFVvsVpth5xtmsB7VChSVbDRdqcYWJCjvDtuHmV9LYZk7itirS2ZERu9cXzx1dA4abp48iFAPjEV6xSWBYyKOw__yKHkd8uqJiTK59kOv/s1600-h/sell+house+and+first+blog+pics+015.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo0a3LucplplTTne0U7DNtaA3uZagqs09tzHtoFVvsVpth5xtmsB7VChSVbDRdqcYWJCjvDtuHmV9LYZk7itirS2ZERu9cXzx1dA4abp48iFAPjEV6xSWBYyKOw__yKHkd8uqJiTK59kOv/s320/sell+house+and+first+blog+pics+015.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371842884943672354" border="0" /></a>Just made some chocolate pudding.<br />Recipe<br />1 avocado<br />2 1/2T cocoa powder (raw or not)<br />1/4-1/3c honey<br />pinch of salt<br />1t vanilla<br />1/2c water<br />Blend till smooth.<br />I love this pudding.
